Harold Hayes
Harold Hayes first became involved with organized drag racing in 1955. He was a member of one of the first NHRA charter clubs in east Texas, “The Road Knights”. Harold attended his first NHRA national event in Oklahoma in 1957.
Harold has served as a technical inspector at numerous tracks, including Whitehouse, Interstate 20, Prescott, Arkansas, Hallsville, Mansfield LA and State Capital.
He worked as an NHRA official at the 1957 and 1958 Nationals in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He certified the first official four second run in drag racing history by Eddie Hill at the Texas Motorplex in 1988, and held the position of assistant national tech director for the IHRA sanctioning body for seven years.
Harold has held an SFI chassis certification certificate since 1988 and is the current incident investigator for Division 4 and holds a gold SFI tech certification.
